News about India

The need of the hour is more evident than ever! Just a few weeks ago, literally half of India was left without electricity due to a grid failure on the interconnected northern and north-eastern grids. It was said to be one of the most widespread power failures of recent times, but compounding this is the very real fact that much of India still does not have an adequate supply of electricity.

A real wakeup call, this incidence has reinforced the importance of the EBTC mission, and the significance of sustainable solutions such as adopting clean technologies ubiquitously. For instance, smart grids are one such solution to adequately manage demand, and crucial for economic growth. In addition to this, a diverse mix of energy sources including renewable energy is important. Europe, with long standing experience in cleantech has much to add to the growing Indian demand.

As a result, EBTC has a number of timely events over the next few months, bringing together EU and Indian businesses and researchers from the fields of energy, environment, biotechnology and transport. This issue of the newsletter is an 'event special' aimed at keeping you posted on where you can meet industry experts and truly collaborate for mutual benefit.
