PORTUGAL: Tech4COVID19 Platform service to support digital schooling

Submitted by Tedora Aibu on 07 May 2020

The Portuguese online platform Tech4COVID19 has just implemented a new service called Teachers4Covid. The platforms that brings together more than 5,000 specialists and experts (e.g. engineers, designers, marketers, health professionals) has evolved into a technological community that fights the COVID-19 pandemic in unity. The Teachers4Covid project has been created to help families deal with Digital School by providing free online explanations and tutorials to the children of all those who fight the pandemic on a daily basis. This platform aims to help all professionals who are involved in the fight against COVID-19 and who are prevented from providing normal follow-up to their children's studies. This group includes health professionals, security forces, or firefighters, but also workers from super- and hypermarkets, and factories in essential sectors.

To apply for this support, parents will need to register on the website and fill in the data of the child or young person who needs support. In 48 hours after the completion of an application, a volunteer who can accompany the student online will be proposed to the parents. This process is mediated by the Teachers4Covid volunteer team, which already includes 500 volunteers featuring teachers, tutors, and university students. You can also visit the website to learn about other projects of the Tech4COVID platform.
