Cluster Strategy
Mission/Objectives:

Arctic Smart Rural Community cluster's mission is to stop capital outflow from rural areas at Lapland Finland. Cluster is a modern regional development model where are combining traditional cluster ideology and regional development. Strategic choises are: food, decentralized renewable energy and coordination of regional development funding in rural areas.

Lapland is sparsely populated region where dencity is 1,8 person per sqm. Thats why the traditional clusterising is not work here. Our base for the development are villages which we are having about 300. In villages circular economy faces over the food production, renewable energy production and with other industries in a small scale, but constructs a big networked sell structure.

Food is our peak to the Europe. Lapland is having clean and rich nature what can offer new business potential to rural areas. Networking small companies from villages we are creating new value chains and looking new partners to create in co-operation new business.

Renewable energy is the biggest source for capital outflow from rural areas. Our 300 villages are using volum of 250 million euros per year to energy what coult to produce sustainable from own resources. That money is creating industrial potential and is giving a huge core competenseto other industries in rural areas.

The third part of clusters strategy is coordinate regional rural development what are implemented with ERDF, EARDF, ESF and others. Inside of cluster we create value chains also from projects to support business development.
