Cluster Strategy
Mission/Objectives:

Promote the cooperation among cultural and creative companies and entities in order to strengthen innovation.

New policies in Europe through the Smart Specialization Strategies (RIS3) as well as the H2020 program consider clusters as important agents of innovation and regional development. This new innovation policy concept aims on enabling the regions to focus on their strengths, boosting innovation to achieve economic growth and prosperity.

It was of utmost importance of Barcelona Media Alliance to rank the media industry as one of the regional priorities. In this sense, the Cluster played an active role with the Catalan administration to position the Cultural and Creative industries as a regional priority on the Research and Innovation Smart Specialization Strategy for Catalonia (RIS3Cat).

The RIS3CAT identifies 7 leading sectors that, due to their significance and potential, can act as key drivers for economic growth and the redirecting of the Catalan economy towards a more rational, sustainable and inclusive growth model. One of these 7 sectors is Cultural and Experience-based industries, that includes cultural and creative industries, tourism and sports.

At this time, Barcelona Media Alliance is actively involved in the design and implementation of a RIS3CAT community in the area of Cultural Industries and experience-based industries. RIS3CAT communities are voluntary associations of companies and stakeholders in the Catalan R&D system that work and cooperate to innovate in the 7 leading sectors.
