H2020 CIP/COSME INTERREG | Block.IS, Blockchain Innovationspaces, https://blockis.eu (H2020-INNOSUP-2018-2020) Block.IS aims to build an open and collaborative cross-border, cross-sectoral innovation ecosystem that will connect over 75 clusters from the financial, logistics and agrifood sectors with ICT players, to generate new value chains and develop innovative solutions embracing blockchain technology, in order to overcome the problems and challenges that the sectors are facing today. The project’s goal is to provide a strong technical and business framework that will support and enable innovators to develop large-scale and competitive market-driven applications, and to ensure post-project sustainability and growth of the Block.IS ecosystem. In order to help innovative SMEs and start-ups to build high-tech, venture-backable enterprises, the Block.IS acceleration programme will provide a total of €2.8 Million in funding to the selected candidates. In addition to funding and business acceleration support, the Block.IS programme will include a series of events, hackathons and business missions to SME clusters across Europe. Two open calls will be organized which will take place through a 3-phase process: INNOVATE, EXPERIMENT and COMMERCIALIZE. In the INNOVATE phase, 90 best project ideas will be invited to fine-tune their concepts and present their tech-business pitches at the Block.IS Clusters-Innovators Assembly. The EXPERIMENT phase will select 45 best projects from the previous phase and offer them €50.000 each to develop their proposed projects in close collaboration with relevant cluster networks, sector specialists and technology experts. Finally, the COMMERCIALIZE phase will select 20 projects with the greatest business potential and support them in developing activities associated with the promotion and exploitation of their projects, in order to engage new customers, partners and investors.
ChainReactions, https://www.interreg-central.eu/Content.Node/CHAIN-REACTIONS.html (Interreg central Europe) The cluster is also participating in Intereg projects.ChainReactions (Interreg central Europe) CHAIN REACTIONS addresses the challenge for industrial regions not benefitting from innovation activities from large leading corporations to increase regional capacity to absorb new knowledge and turn it into competitiveness edge and business value. https://www.interreg-central.eu/Content.Node/CHAIN-REACTIONS.html There is a strong need to help SMEs to overcome capacity shortages for innovation and integration into transnational value chains. The project aims at empowering regional ecosystems with the knowledge and tools to help businesses overcome those barriers and generate sustained growth through value chain innovation. CHAIN REACTIONS focuses thereby on modern approaches considering value chains and their complex developments rather than linear technology transfer approaches. The framework of value chain innovation builds on Porter’s 5 forces framework (new entrants, substitutes, customers, suppliers and rivalry) and transversal innovation drivers: key enabling technologies, resource efficiency, digital transformation and service innovation. The focus is on key sectors: advanced manufacturing, ICT and electronics, energy and environment, health and bioeconomy in accordance with their S3 priorities. RECiPE4Mobility, COS-CLUSTER-2018-03-02 RECiPE4Mobility stands for Regrouping European Clusters in a Partnership of Excellence for Mobility. RECiPE4Mobility is a 24-months project pursuing the overall objectives of strengthening cluster management excellence while facilitating strategic connections between our clusters and our specialised ecosystems across Europe, in the sector of mobility. Capacity-building and collaboration activities between our cluster organisations, respective members and regional ecosystems, will contribute to the development of our clusters’ professionalized services. In this regard, RECiPE4Mobility will ensure that these new competencies (uptake of advanced technologies, new business models, low-carbon and resource-efficient solutions, creativity and design, skills upgrading, talent attraction, entrepreneurship acceleration, and internationalisation) particularly favour European SMEs, helping them to better address the innovation, growth and globalisation challenges. This priority on SMEs is crucial for the competitiveness of the Union's industrial value chains and to secure a smart, inclusive and sustainable European growth. This is also in line with the priorities defined by the European Commission last year in its Programme for single market, competitiveness of enterprises, including small and medium-sized enterprises, and European statistics and repealing Regulation. Furthermore, the connections and partnering activities which will be carried out by the RECiPE4Mobility consortium will strengthen the links between the different European ecosystems directly involved from Bavaria (DE), Central Hungary (HU), Ile-de-France (FR), Normandie (FR), Norte (PT) and South Netherlands (NL), and their key innovation actors, such as SMEs, clusters networks, regional ecosystems, technology centres and other scaling-up support organisations. Our partnership truly considers cross-regional and cross-sectorial value-chains as the answers to the challenges reshaping the mobility industry.
Safe and green road vehicle (SAGE), FP7 http://www.sage-project.eu/home.html Safe and Green Road Vehicles (SAGE) aims to strengthen regional capacity in research and innovation in accordance to the Europe 2020 strategy for sustainable growth. SAGE represents a network of regional research driven clusters with strong automotive industry that aims to prepare for and facilitate an increasing pace of innovation within the major European growth market for safe and green road vehicles for passengers and goods. “Green” translates as a focus on knowledge and solutions for radical reduction of CO2 emissions and energy use, and “safe” as a focus on active and intelligent solutions that substantially change the safety of the road transport system.
| Bavarian Logistics Initiative https://www.c-na.de/logistik-initiative/ The Logistics Initiative Bavaria is a network and independent innovation platform for the logistics industry in Bavaria, consisting of manufacturers, shippers, operators, research institutes, administration and all logistics service providers. The focus is on sustainability, transport logistics, digitalisation and combined transport.
R&D Network I2P https://www.it-logistik-bayern.de/produktionslogistik/netzwerk-i2p The technical goal of the network is to develop innovative IT solutions for tomorrow's production. The network thus contributes to keeping industrial production, the backbone of the German economy, competitive in the long term. The research project " MobiCM (development of a mobile condition monitoring system) emerged from the I2P network.
R&D Network SISEN https://www.it-logistik-bayern.de/produktionslogistik/abgeschlossene-projekte The network brought together specialists from different areas (authentication, secure communication, remote maintenance) in development projects. The vision of the network was to develop secure systems ("Secure Industrial Systems") for medium-sized manufacturing companies.
R&D Network SeDiPeT https://www.it-logistik-bayern.de/produktionslogistik/network-sedipet The goal of the network SeDiPeT (Secure Digital Performance Twin) is to provide secure solutions for the digital product memory - covering an important aspect of the Digital Twin technology. A digital product memory continuously collects all data, information and properties of a product. Therefore, it allows traceability of the entire product life cycle. The solutions developed in the network SeDiPeT are specifically designed for the requirements of small- and medium-sized companies from the manufacturing sector.
R&D Network IntelliZell https://www.elektromobilitaet-regensburg.de/fahrzeuge-infrastruktur/network-intellizell Existing power grid infrastructures are insufficient to address the requirements of a successful energy transition, including the intrinsic integration of e-mobility. Beneficial technology solutions for stabilizing power grids should be introduced at the low voltage level to avoid cost intensive intervention using superordinate systems. An improvement of the stability of power grids will be facilitated by involving photovoltaic systems and block-type thermal power stations. An efficient regulation of power grids will be enabled with the inclusion of appropriate energy storage systems and even disruptive approaches like Blockchain technology using smart contracts. Renewable energy installations, energy storage, charging stations, electric vehicles and consumers can be combined interoperable to optimize the use of locally available energy. Explicitly, our focus here is the integration of e-mobility in a significant context. |
Uwe Pfeil from R-Tech GmbH is "European Clustermanager 2020”
At the European Cluster Conference from November 10th to 11th, Uwe Pfeil was elected "European Clustermanager 2020". Pfeil, who heads the E-Mobility Cluster Regensburg and the IT-Logistics Cluster, is the first cluster manager from Germany to receive this award. The European competition brings together cluster managers from all European countries, specialists and experts for clusters and cluster topics. Entire press release.
R&D-centering of the cluster
The cluster reached its goal of increasing the amount of R&D activities. For this purpose, the cluster founded the network Innovative IT for production in which 10 companies and 3 research institutions (OTH Regensburg, TH Deggendorf, TU München) are involved. The strategic alignment of the cluster aims for secure solutions for IT intralogistics. The lineages in the network I2P and it`s follower SISEN and SeDiPeT are structured along the application area of intralogistical IT in production in combination with IT security. With this, the network is contributing to keep the industrial production, as the backbone of german economy, competitive. Based on a technology roadmap, to this day 3 R&D joint projects have been initiated as the result of about 30 workshops and teleconferences. The clustermanagement is supporting these projects with the conception and aquisition of funds. The companies of the network are bringing a deductible of about 70.000 Euro in total. The clustermanagement has declared the mutual rights and obligations in a network agreement with the involved companies.
Establishment of a cluster collective booth – International leading trade fair LogiMAT in Stuttgart
In 2015, the Bavarian IT-Logistics Cluster established a cluster collective booth for its members at the LogiMAT. Preparing the booth is a service that the cluster offers as a part of the service orientation for its members. LogiMAT is the leading trade fair for distribution, material and information flow and has a leading role in the international fair scene. The size of the booth is about 20 qm/2 in 2015 with 2 exhibitors and in 2016 it was already 54 qm/2 with 5 exhibitors. since 2017 it is around 72 qm/2 with 7 -8 exhibitors. Each year, the collective booth is planned individually for the needs of the exhibiting companies. The organization effort is contained in the membership of the cluster. The material costs of the booth are allocated to the exhibitors. The budget for the material costs will be about 45.000 Euro. The already established collective booth at the international leading trade fair is an excellent marketing opportunity für all companies involved, as well as for the cluster itself.
Raising the regional visibility of the cluster; creating excellent marketing opportunities for the members
Since 2011, the cluster pursues the goal of raising its visibility in the region of Regensburg and a circuit of about 150 km. One successful approach is the establishment of the Bavarian IT Innovation-Congress. The event took place for the fifth time in 2016 and is aligned to present cluster innovations to an interested expert audience. The number of participants rose from 30 in 2011 to 140 attendees in the years 2015 and 2016 each and up to 250 in 2019.
