Chemical Industry Cluster of the Balearic Islands (CliQIB)
Primary tabs

Together with the Government of the Balearic Islands and UIB University, CliQIB has promoted the creation of the scientific infrastructure AGUALAB,a research and training centre aimed at creating and disseminating knowledge related to water management in swimming pools and SPAs. This new infrastructure will be an instrument for demonstrating and validating innovative technology in all areas of swimming pool and spa management, and to raise the competition of chemical companies in the tourist related sector (sensor technology, water saving (re-routing water to the pool, purification for irrigation, introduction into the grey water circuit), remote control of water quality, etc....). We are currently seeking innovative project ideas and partners. It is foreseen that AGUALAB will start operations in 2023.
CliQIB, the chemical industry cluster, is a core element of the Balearic Islands' regional innovation ecosystem. CliQIB promotes the growth and business development of its associated companies through the exchange of knowledge, innovation and compliance with European regulations. It establishes cooperation networks to strengthen its strategic axes and promotes the continuous development of new initiatives. Thanks to the natural test environment of the Balearic Islands as a popular holiday destination and the exploration of new models and more sustainable processes, CliQIB is at the forefront of chemical-technological solutions for the tourism industry. The cluster supports training initiatives to promote the marketing of hygiene solutions for both the tourism industry and related sectors. CliQIB aims to be a national reference for collaborative projects, not only for tourism companies, but also for knowledge centres and institutions supporting innovation. It contributes to the sustainability of the territory by offering responsible products and solutions.
As a result of this commitment, the cluster is certified as a Cluster Management Excellence BRONZE Label by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA), which recognises excellence in the management and delivery of its services, and positions the company to participate in European projects and initiatives. Since the creation of the cluster in 2013, it has already successfully participated in several national and international innovation projects.
