Cluster Strategy
Mission/Objectives:

COMET Scrl is the cluster representing the entire Mechanical Sector of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy’s North-easternmost Region.

The cluster is the outcome of a process driven by the Regional Administration in 2015 (Friuli Venezia Giulia - Regional Law no. 3 / 2015, the so-called "Rilancimpresa") and it is nowadays recognized as a point of reference for all the entrerprises operating in metal production, mechanics, mechatronics, components and thermo-electromechanics in our Region; meaning 3,850 enterprises employing around 57,000 employees and representing 5.8 billion euros of total export revenues.

Basically, what CO.MET does is to link the regional ecosystem and the entire manufacturing sector also by representing it at national institutional levels on the behalf of our Administration (such as the National Technological Cluster on Smart Factory); to develop the territory and its economy by launching and managing projects of common interest, at regional, national and international level, that always start by listening to our companies’ needs.

On a daily basis, COMET carries out a bunch of activities, among the others:

  • Supporting and raising awareness on Industry 4.0 related themes and opportunities;
  • Conducting networking activities between enterprises and regional or national bodies;
  • Coordinating and managing the Smart and Specialisation Startegy in industrial manufacturing sector;
  • Supporting the internationalisation processes of our affiliated companies;
  • Creating business networks among our affiliated enterprises in order to reach foreign markets and enhance their competitiveness.

In order to do that, we work in strong collaboration with the entire Regional ecosystem and all the relevant stakeholders from the academic and scientific sector, trade associations and Chambers of Commerce, local technopoles and R&D centers.
