Cluster Strategy
Mission/Objectives: 
The Castilla y León Health Cluster was founded in April 2013 in order to become the benchmark forum and to represent the range of Healthcare activities in Castilla y León. At Biotecyl we collaborate and innovate for a healthier future by bringing together start-ups and well-established companies, technology centres, research groups, universities, hospitals, clients and the public administration. The aim is to make the Community of Castilla y León a magnet for businesses in the field of healthcare, creating a nexus between our members and the different actors in the area. MISSION To contribute to improving healthcare in Castilla y León through innovation, developing joint collaboration projects, sharing good practices and coordinating action in order to form a highly competitive sector both nationally and internationally. VISION To position the Castilla y León healthcare sector as an international benchmark by consolidating Biotecyl as a leading platform on applied innovation in healthcare. OBJECTIVES 1. To strengthen entrepreneurship in Castilla y León We design innovation, research, cooperation, entrepreneurship and training activities. 2. To enhance productivity, competitiveness and growth We create added value which allows our members to compete in all types of markets. 3. To increase our international presence We carry out specific actions to promote and internationalise Biotecyl and our members. 4. To promote innovation We have created an internationally renowned platform, energising and encouraging innovation in the healthcare sector.

Being members of BIOTECYL Cluster, the partners enjoy the following benefits and services: 

  • They propose ideas and participate in cluster’s projects cluster.
  • They orientate the cluster strategy, target markets, and the priority working lines, projects and new contacts 
  • They receive support on healthy by the cluster manager for the detection of opportunities (to strengthen the know-what, know-how and know-who, under the 2015-19 strategic plan and annual business plan and projects) 
  • They have preferential access to infrastructures (BIOINCUBADORA…)

EUROPEAN FUNDS:

  • INNOLABS PROJECT (H2020-INNOSUP-2015-1): INNOLABS Project aims to Foster collaboration, transfer of knowledge and opportunities among SMEs from different countries and sectors in order to develop, improve and deliver disruptive technologies mainly related to mHealth, personalized healthcare and ageing populations.
  • CROSS 4 HEALTH PROJECT (H2020-INNOSUP-2016-1): CROSS 4 HEALTH Project aims to unlock the collaborative potential of Aerospace and Energy SMEs leveraged on Biotechnology, ICT and Medical Devices sectors for the generation of innovative solutions that enhance patient-centred personalized care.

NATIONAL/ REGIONAL FUNDS:

  • COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS: Interclusters cooperation projects related to tech transfer in the context of health and quality of life.
  • MEET-INNHEALTH PROJECT: creation of a methodology and tolos to increase the opportunities for our companies to participe in pre-commercial procurement (PCP) and public procurement of innovation (PPI) initiatives.
  • Implementation of a High Security Animal Facility (biosecurity levels P2 and P3), intended to accommodate large animals, to immprove the competitiveness of the companies of the Health Sector of Castilla y León.
  • Development of an Integrative Platform for the Diagnosis of Rare Diseases in CyL.
  • InnHOSPITAL: the aim is to give hospitals and healthcare centers a new role in the healthcare innovation values chain, not only by providing health care but also generating innovation and ecoonomic dynamism in the regions, contributing boths to the sustainability of the system and to the creation of quality jobs.

    Success Story / Achievements: 

    The Health Science Cluster of Castilla y León was formed in 2013 with the aim of representing and becoming a focal point for those involved in Health Science activities in Castilla y León.

    It is made up of around 30 companies and public and private entities, who are striving to make the region of Castilla y León a centre to attract businesses in the field of Biotechnology through cooperation between companies and local government, Universities, Research Centres, Hospitals and industries.

    Biotecyl’s main aim is to create a more competitive biotechnological business network, encouraging the productive involvement of all actors in the biotechnology sector, development engines and driving forces for change in the region.
