Cluster Strategy
Mission/Objectives:

WHAT DO WE DO?

“We facilitate getting the idea off the back of an envelope and into a RD&I project plan”.

Our mission consists of facilitating the process for our clients by which a concrete idea becomes a fully-realized project plan for a new product or service within the offshore energy sector (focus = offshore wind, wave & tidal energy). Within this innovative business network (IBN) we focus on RD&I support, knowledge sharing and networking between the members and external.

HOW DO WE DO THIS?

We focus on a number of themes that are relevant to companies operating in the cluster activity. We keep track of the market and technology developments within these themes and inform our members about the current RD&I calls. In addition, we facilitate matchmaking between members regarding these themes and look for opportunities for tackling mutual challenges and opportunities (cluster actions). We also look for international collaborations that would be useful to the cluster.

KEY TOPIS THAT WE COVER

The 6 key topics that we cover in this Innovative Business Network (IBN) are:

  1. (Smart) structures & foundations (incl. new materials, structural integrity topics, etc...)
  2. Innovative electro-mechanical equipment & connections (incl. new drivetrains, electrical power conversion, etc...
  3. The usage of robots (UAV's ; drones; cobots, etc...)
  4. Offshore energy in the grid (incl. storage, ancillary services, power quality,etc...)
  5. Installation of offshore energy
  6. Emerging offshore energy technologies (floating wind turbines, wave & tidal energy,etc...)

Either challenges (corrosion, vibrations,...) are tackled with respect to the topics above, or new technologies (monitoring, IOT, big data,...) are used to innovate within the sector.
