Cluster Strategy
Mission/Objectives: 

ITECAM, Metal Technology Center of Castilla-La-Mancha, was established in 2002 as a business non-profit association with the purpose of increase the business competitiveness and promote the generation of new products and activities in the metal sector and related sectors.  ITECAM is supported by the consortium of companies committed to the technological development of this sector. Currently, we represent 198 companies, with 13.600 employees and 2.300 million of turnover.

Details of support services: 

ITECAM is located in an industrial area called "Los Viñedos" in Tomelloso where there is a space of 600 m2 for offices and laboratories and a space of 700 m2 for industrial activities. ITECAM provides a bridge between academia and industry, traditionally distant, offering technological services, qualified training adapted and working in the development of R&D&I projects. All this is possible due to our human resource capacity of R&D&i and appropriate infrastructure and technological resources (laboratories of the last technology).

Currently, ITECAM has six laboratories, which are: Materials Laboratory, Precision Dimensional Metrology Laboratory, Climate Test Laboratory, Rapid Prototyping Laboratory, Non-Destructive The Materials Joined Test Laboratory and Laboratory Tests Absorption and Sound Insulation.

All these enabling:

  • Study of materials: Analysis of material and their different methods of joining (weldings, rivets, screw joints, adhesion, chemical melting of composite materials,…), which represents a fundamental research line in the optimization of the use of metallic material in several applications.
  • Simulations of material and the material joined by numerical methods, as well as computational fluid mechanics (CFD) processes. The experimental research is complemented by numerical techniques such as finite elements.
  • Developing large-volume experimental tests subject adverse climatic conditions in order to know their behavior with respect to similar conditions of real scenario.

Also, Itecam offers to the companies the management and development of R+D+I projects in the regional, national and European level (H2020) for the implementation of innovative business initiatives, which complement our capabilities to deliver comprehensive solutions. To do this, we have a multidisciplinary team of professionals that make up working groups based on needs and results to be obtained for each project. In Itecam, knowledge transfer and generation of talent is a key objective because it directly affects the capabilities of businesses and the competitive development of the same. The actions of this unit are carried out in different areas and under the DUAL philosophy to combine knowledge with high rate of recruitment.

  • PROJECT APPLICATION EXPERIMENT “Fire in the Cloud” correspondiente a la Call “New application experiments for CloudFlow – 2st call”-2015, FP7. Obtaining the local distribution of temperatures and thermal loads in a structure subject to fire by means of the approximate simulation of the evolution thereof, which takes account of fundamental phenomena in the transfer of heat as well as using software of mechanics of computer fluids.
  • PROJECT CYPE APP. “Integration of CYPE Metal 3D in CloudSME Platform” correspondiente a la Open Call “Competitive Open Call for Additional Project Beneficiaries CloudSME-1-2014, FP7. Integration of CYPE Metal 3d solution, developed by CYPE, in the CloudSME Platform, so it could be offered as a cloud service (SaaS) to manufacturing SMEs.
  • PROJECT. PIONEER INTO PRACTICE 2015 ". SOCIETAL CHALLENGES: CLIMATE ACTION. The TTO Department of Itecam has participated in the European Project "PIONEER INTO PRACTICE" (2015). H2020. Project of interprofessional mobility in national by host national, such as "IRTIC" University Institute for Research in Robotics and Information Technologies of the University of Valencia, as well as an international host, located in Bay Zoltán Alkalmazott Kutatási Közhasznú Nonprofit Kft. International Prestige in Budapest (Hungary).
  • PROJECT ENHIGMA. National Project about of Optimization and Improvement of PEM Electrolysis Cells for production of hydrogen by simulation and experimentation, by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness.
  • Project TAD INTELLIGENT. National Project about structural simulation applied to industrial vehicles, by Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI). It is a Public Bussiness Entity, answering to the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
