EXTERNAL RECOGNITION
Madan Parque was ranked the "3rd World Best Science-Based Incubator" back in 2011, in a competition promoted by an international consortium formed by Technopolicy Group, Deloitte and the Centre for Strategy and Evaluation Services (CSES). The criteria for the nomination cosisted of 4 different categories, that is: A) Economic efficiency of the incubator; B) Portfolio of services provided; C) Performance of tenant companies and D) Liaison with external partners.
SPIN-OFF COMPANY
S3 Portugal is one of our most promising spin-off companies. Its core business consists of the development of high performance integrated circuits. The original company was named Acacia Semiconductors, having emerged out of a research team affiliated to the Electrical Engineering Department @ FCT-UNL. The company was well ranked in the market and hence it was acquired at a later stage by a bigger company incorporated in Ireland. The later is named S3, which stands for Silicon Systems Software.
H2020 SME Instrument
There are 3 tenant companies of Madan Parque whose applications to 1st phase of H2020 SME Instrument were successful. It all started with the success of STAB Vida (a biotech spin-off), followed by YNvisible and more recently by Boereboom Invitro Portugal. Boereboom's application was draft with the support of our EU-projects team, being this fee-based service of the most sought-after by our tenants.
Madan Parque is a reliable partner, strongly commited to provide value-added services to the tenant companies supported and to foster cooperation activities with external partners, aiming to pursue its institutional development as well as the growth of the region it belongs to.
Being the central node of the local innovation ecosystem, Madan Parque is perfectly aligned with the strategy of the parent University, FCT-UNL (stands for Faculty of Sciences and Technology | NOVA University of Lisbon). The focus relies on the nurture of technology-based companies (spin-ofs and start-ups) and more recently in the support to the delivery of FCT-UNL's new Curricular Profile, which is looking at the implementation of a transversal acceleration program targeted to undergraduate students and recent graduates.
Current pool of tenants is formed by 52 companies pertaining to several sectors of activity, albeit with a strong presence of ICT-based companies. External partners can expect then a fast-growing cluster, grouping together different organisations scattered along different levels as regard to their proximity to the central node.
