Mission/Objectives:

Opticsvalley is a business and innovation accelerator and the Paris area cluster in photonics and high-tech. Its mission is to stimulate mutually beneficial cross-sectorial collaborations between photonics companies (mostly SMEs) and the end-users from several strategic markets, and thus to bring new sources of innovation and added value to these markets through emerging technologies.

Main Sectors represented by the cluster: Optics and Photonics, IoT and their applications in the fields of Smart Manufacturing, Smart Cities, Intelligent Transportation Systems and Mobility, Personalized Health and Well Being, Aerospace and Defense, ICT ...

With a staff of 11 employees, Opticsvalley develops support actions for its’ 200+ members: SMEs, large corporations and research labs. Most of the clusters’ members (> 80%) are high-tech start-up and SMEs. Through its network animation (over 12000 contacts in enterprises, research labs, academic institutions, etc.), information dissemination and support activities, Opticsvalley promotes innovation and contributes to the Paris-Region’s economic development. It has developed a specific employment exchange support open to industry and research in the high-tech fields. OV also provides individual support to start-up and SMEs and their development projects, with a tailor-made service & methodology offering analysis, concerted evaluations and action plans

Opticsvalley’s actions focus on creating business and innovation opportunities for its members through intra and cross-sectorial collaborations with other start-up and SMEs, with corporate players and with research labs. The cluster regularly organizes events (seminars and business meetings) allowing its members to meet and present their solutions and know-how to the end-users (corporate players from different fields). The topics are selected according to the results of the intelligence gathering activities (market and technology studies) performed by the cluster. These actions are further reinforced by innovation and R&D workshops allowing to share knowledge and stimulate collaborative project emergence. Through its participation in international projects and programs, the cluster assures a broad exposure of its actions and its members, and extends business opportunities abroad.

Opticsvalley is the coordinator the Scale-EU-p² Innovation project (an "ICT-32-2017 Startup Europe for Growth and Innovation Radar" project beginning in January 2018) and also a partner in 2 COSME projects. The cluster coordinated different FP7 European projects and was recently involved in several H2020 projects: (Photonics4All, Respice SME, LaserGO).
