NF4/New Frontier in Food

AHFES

REAMIT

NF4: New Frontiers in Food

Objective: to develop and implement a joint internationalisation strategy with the aim of improving the competitiveness of SMEs in the participating clusters by facilitating access to international markets more easily. For this, an intelligent strategy based on the combination of several interconnected specialisations has been defined. Specifically, NF4 has detected three complementary value chains: i) connected foods; ii) functional foods and healthy ingredients; and iii) processed food products.

AHFES: A quadruple helix Atlantic Area healthy food Ecosystem for growth of SMEs

Objective: improving competitiveness and growth of SMEs in the value chain of healthy eating and lifestyle, contributing to the development of a transnational innovation ecosystem that helps entities to access information, partners and markets and align their products and services to the needs and expectations of the consumers. Specifically, AHFES's mission is to achieve an ecosystem of healthy food in the Atlantic Area of four propellers (public authorities, industry, research and citizens) for the growth of SMEs.

REAMIT :Improving Resource Efficiency of Agribusiness supply chains by Minimising waste using Big Data and Internet of Things sensors

Objective: to adapt and apply existing innovative technology to food supply chains in NWE to reduce food waste and hence improve resource efficiency. Reducing food waste is of highest priority for the EU (88Mt or € 143B wasted per year). The EU has committed to halving food waste by 2030 by focusing on all stages in the supply chain. 35% of food waste in EU-28 has occurred in supply chains in 2012. Though technologies exist to reduce food waste, they have not been applied to food supply chains.
