Mission/Objectives: 

VITARTIS is a nonprofit association whose complete name is Food Industry Cluster of Castilla y León.

Vitartis was officially founded 19th May 2009. The Cluster is an Innovative Business Group and its main objective is to increase food industry competitiveness in the Region, by encouraging the innovation in every field and representing the sector´s interests in different institutions, public administration and economic and social organizations.

The organization is made up by two kind of partners:

- Business partners: including agro-food SMEs, large agro-food enterprises and food Biotechnology SMEs.

- Technology partners: Universities and Technology Centers of the region.

The result of that is the creation of a unique collaboration framework, able to merge sciences and business.

Nowadays, Vitartis is formed by 86 members: 73 enterprises (52 SMEs, 21 large size enterprises and 1 association), 5 Technology Centers, 6 Universities of Castilla y Leon and 1 Public Research Center.

Food sectors involved in Vitartis are meat, fish products, canned fruit and vegetables, wine, coffee, dietetic food, biscuit, dairy industry, bakery, sugar, flour, nuts, health, catering, frozen foods, food ingredients, animal feed and agriculture.

The Vitartis total turnover reaches 3,500 million €, which represents 35% of the regional sector total turnover.

The main objectives of Vitartis are:

-    To promote R&D& innovation in the food industry.

-    To encourage the technology transfer to the agro-food sector among the partners.

-    To support companies in developing marketing strategies.

-    To enhance specific training for technical personnel and managers of food companies.

-    To inform and to support for the adaptation to new regulations.

Vitartis has been working in different proposals of strategic interest for our members under differents regional and national programmes:

  •  Participation of the Food Industry Cluster of Castilla y Leon in the Innovative Business Group Network II REDAEI II (2010)
  • Implementaction of specific projects within the Food Industry Cluster of Castilla y León for strengthening the innovative potential and competitiveness of enterprises and organizations of the Association. (2010)    
  • Design of a strategy for public procurement of innovative technology for the Food Industry Cluster of Castilla y León. (2011)
  • Revitalisation of activities and projects of the Functional Food  Working Group of he Food Industry Cluster of Castilla y León (2011)
