Description

The European Commission organised the EU–Singapore Matchmaking Event as part of the Singapore International Energy Week, held from 21-25 October 2024. The matchmaking event itself took place on-site in Singapore from 22-24 October.

This initiative was jointly coordinated by the European Commission through the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP), in partnership with Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), the Singapore Business Federation, and the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).

The event gathered cluster organisations and SMEs from the EU, non-EU Single Market Programme/COSME Strand countries, and Singapore. It offered a valuable platform for fostering Cluster-to-Cluster (C2C), Cluster-to-Business (C2B), and Business-to-Business (B2B) collaborations.

Looking back at past missions to Singapore

Bridging Horizons: The 2023 Cluster Matchmaking Event Amplifies EU-Singapore Business Synergies

Marking a significant return one year after the previous gathering, the much-anticipated EU-Singapore Matchmaking event unfolded in the vibrant city of Singapore from 30 October to 1 November 2023. This year’s edition was a compelling display of international collaboration, featuring a robust EU delegation of 34 delegates comprising 27 prominent clusters and 5 SMEs from across 18 countries[1]The delegation represented a broad array of industries, with a particular focus on sectors such as agri-food, health care & biomedical tech, digital tech, smart cities & urban solutions, advanced manufacturing, and green tech. All arrived eager to establish connections and delve into the latest developments in the Singaporean and Southeast Asian markets.

The event provided a fertile ground for EU clusters and SMEs to explore business opportunities. It was more than a networking event; it was a melting pot of ideas, expertise and potential partnerships. Participants were poised to share their insights, embrace new perspectives and forge strategic alliances with their Asian counterparts.

The event was jointly organized by the European Commission and Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), supported by the EU Delegation to Singapore, the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Singapore Business Federation, and facilitated by the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) and the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN). Over the course of three days, the event was packed with activities, including targeted C2C, C2B, and B2B Matchmaking sessions along with informative site visits to notable trade shows such as Singapore Week of Innovation & Technology (SWITCH)Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia 2023, and the government agency JTC Corporation

Over 176 B2B meetings were held in the framework of the EU-Singapore matchmaking event 2022

The European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) organised the EU-Singapore Cluster Matchmaking Event in 2022 and 2023. The overall objective of both events were to promote information exchange and networking opportunities for European cluster organisations and their members with counterparts from Singapore.

The EU-Singapore Matchmaking Event 2022 was organised in the context of the Industrial Transformation ASIA-PACIFIC (ITAP) and the  EU – Singapore Matchmaking Event in 2023 as part of Singapore Week of Innovation & Technology (SWITCH) and Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia 2023

The EU-Singapore Matchmaking Event in 2022 sought to support cluster cooperation for strategic business partnerships taking advantage of the provisions of the Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA) signed between the European Union and Singapore in October 2018 and implemented in November 2019. Participants were focused on identifying potential areas of common interest for cooperation and synergies, in terms of the sectoral, value chain, and market focus of their SMEs and other companies. In addition, they aimed to improve the EU-Singapore industry and academia-industry collaboration in research, development, and innovation. The EU delegation included 24 members representing different cluster organisations and SMEs from 10 EU countries (Bulgaria, Czechia, France, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and Sweden). In total, including Singaporean organisations (both cluster organisations and SMEs) there were 76 participants in the matchmaking sessions, where 176 bilateral meetings were held.
