FoodPackLab (Photonics – Packaging Partnership for Food Innovation) arises from the European Strategic Clusters Partnership launched by 5 European clusters from the photonics, packaging and food industry under the ESCP4i programme, linking different value chain activities, industries and countries. It focuses on cooperation for internationalization, providing time and space for different stakeholders to work on cutting-edge solutions for one of the most important challenges faced by contemporary society – food safety. The Partnership will:
- Foster synergies between photonics, packaging and food industries towards current worldwide challenges: food processing, security, and hygiene reducing food waste and Circular Economy in packaging procedures.
- Positioning Europe as a reference in the food industry outside of the continent, developing new food value chain methodologies, with particular emphasis on food packaging, and export them to third countries facing new challenges. Bringing together the companies, technological centres and research groups of the consortium clusters will give rise to new opportunities that, otherwise, would have never appeared themselves if everyone had worked alone.

Partnership building with key stakeholders enabling internationalization missions of European SMEs to India and South Africa, with the aim to raise awareness on photonics and packaging solutions for food waste and food processing.
