The aim of SPACE2IDGO is to implement the international business development action plan as defined during the SPACE2ID (Space Clusters International Industrial Diversification) project, the very first structured action for Space Service Providers and Application Developers to directly address the huge economic potential of several industrial sectors, carefully selected at European and International level with a clear “market pull” orientation.

During Space2ID, a consortium of clusters from across Europe came together to analyse market potential at European and International level and define concrete actions to underpin and take forward the internationalisation of Space Service Providers and Application Developers.

Building on this momentum, the SPACE2IDGO project now consolidates the consortium’s ambitions to go international stronger and faster with a series of concrete actions. The 3 high-level objectives are as follows:

  • To propose an innovative support towards SMEs willing to go international
  • To diffuse the added value of space data in MELCA value chains
  • To develop business between European SMEs and new abroad partners/customers

The project brings together 9 European clusters, 5 of which are active in the space industry, 4 which are active MELCA sectors and Aerospace Valley which is active in both. 

  1. Mobility (transportation of people),
  2. Energy,
  3. Logistics (transportation of goods),
  4. Creative industries (design, entertainment),
  5. Agriculture

5 countries have been identified as the top market priorities of the Partnership for the above MELCA sectors: China, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Colombia and Chile.

The objective of the SPACE2IDGO project is now to enter these 5 priority markets with various actions.

  1. In China, mobility, logistics and creative industries sectors will receive the export efforts of the Partnership.
  2. In the United Arab Emirates, target markets are those of mobility, logistics and agriculture sectors.
  3. In Canada mobility and logistics have been found to be the most prominent sectors.
  4. In Colombia and Chile, energy and agriculture sectors were found to be the target markets with the highest potential among project clusters.

SPACE2IDGO aims at investigating the crossing of space-based data and cutting edge digital technologies, to the service of various emerging industries such as: Mobility Industries, Energy, Logistical Services, Creative Industries and new Agriculture value chain.

As well as the top 5 countries selected as market priorities for this internalization mission, 6 further target countries have been identified as having good market potential for Space Service Providers and Application Developers. They are America, Singapore, Hong Kong, Iran, Morocco, Indonesia and South Africa. These 6 countries will be monitored by partner clusters during the course of the SPACE2IDGO project in order to identify any opportunity that may arise during the implementation of the joint strategy.

The specific, tangible goals of the SPACE2ID GO project are as follows:

  • Implement the joint internationalization strategy plan defined in SPACE2ID project
  • Provide a complete set of services towards SMEs which will be constituted of trainings, workshops, match-making missions, support to business agreement writing and personal follow-up
  • Combine the networks of the consortium and the European Commission influence to engage first business discussions
  • Sign 5 cluster to cluster cooperation agreements, one in each target country
  • Fostering the emergence of business opportunities between European SMEs and abroad partners
  • Support the signature of 10 SME business agreements in the target countries
  • Develop a sustainable action by making SMEs financially contribute to the project
  • Reinforce the positioning of the use of space data in other value chains
  • Open up the action to new circles, new clusters and new SMEs, through participation in ECCP-led actions and through the link with two INNOSUP projects: NEPTUNE and ACTIVATTE.
