The Horizon 2020 funded project SENET aims to create a sustainable dialogue between health research and innovation actors from the EU and China and to facilitate participation of Chinese researchers in Horizon 2020 programmes.

Firstly, SENET focuses on assessing the current status of EU and China health research priorities, highlighting common challenges and collaboration, identifying obstacles, good practices and motivations for the researcher’s mobility. This state of play, reinforced by an overview of funding scheme agreements, will help in reinforcing collaboration on existing or emerging health R&I priorities.

Secondly, throughout the project lifetime, SENET engages health R&I experts who contribute to the development of strategic recommendations and the design of a roadmap for enhancing collaboration between the EU and China. They will support SENET in defining common priorities, providing recommendation on new programmes and funding schemes and further investigate how to tackle barriers for researcher’s mobility. Based on these efforts, SENET will develop a consolidated action plan for research and innovation priorities in health.

Finally, SENET offers opportunities to forge cooperation and to encourage collaborative research and innovation efforts through virtual ideation hackathons and to help in identifying partners for calls (call power partnering) and find suitable funding sources for the project. Furthermore, the European and Chinese funding schemes will be promoted within roadshows co-organised by SENET and partners such as the Enterprise Europe Network and the National Contacts Points.

Overall, SENET facilitates favourable conditions to increase a sustainable dialogue between the EU and China and future cooperation in health research and innovation.

The consortium partners are assessing current EU-China collaborations in healthcare R&I and developing a strategy paper that supports these collaborations. To this end, a survey will be launched on Wednesday the 3rd of July 2019, completed by 20 interviews.

Information will be gathered on the following issues:

  • The health research and innovation priorities in the EU and China;
  • The mobility of European and Chinese health researchers;
  • Current EU-China health research and innovation collaborative projects;
  • The participation of Chinese health researchers and innovation stakeholders in H2020 and European health researchers and innovation stakeholders in Chinese funding programmes.

If you want to take part in the project, please complete the survey, or contact us to be interviewed.

An other project objective is to mobilise on a regular basis a community of Health Research and Innovation (R&I) Experts – representatives of the Health R&I from EU and China, domain experts, Policy experts and Health Research and Innovation specialists. They will be organised in three Expert Groups (Policy Implementation Expert Group, Policy Making Expert Group, Research and Innovation Expert Group) that support the consortium.

These groups will work closely together to identify converging themes, major policy priority areas, opportunities to enhance collaboration in the health research and innovation area and mobility between the EU and China.

Contact us if you want to participate in one of these groups!
