Description

Baltic TRAM parallel session “Science for Business in the Baltic Sea Region” is an integral component of the Council of the Baltic Sea States Baltic Sea Science Day 2019. This year the annual debates are hosted by the University of Latvia on the occasion of its centenary celebrations. Baltic Sea Science Day 2019 takes place right after the Baltic Science Network Closing Conference. A joint registration form for both events is available on the website of the Council of the Baltic Sea States.

On 22 – 23 February 2019, new ideas and fresh food for thought will be offered to answer the question, how to intensify the cooperation in the field of science, research and innovation in the Baltic Sea Region, enhance the visibility of the macro-region as a leading area of science, research and innovation, both on a European and global scale. The event offers a unique opportunity to discuss the final outcomes of the Baltic Science Network and the future enhancement of the CBSS Science, Research and Innovation Agenda, as well as provides an appropriate space for networking among different transnational cooperation initiatives.

Baltic TRAM was endorsed by the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) during the 1st CBSS Science Ministerial held on 16 June 2016 in Kraków. Since then, this notable macro-regional project of research-business cooperation has spurred further reflections not only on the transnational smart specialisation trends, but also research performance dynamics transnationally extending ties between various analytical research facilities and EU-based SMEs during three consecutive open calls.

The Latvian project partner, University of Latvia, and the Estonian project partner, University of Tartu, analysed various matters of great interest to the business sector. The parallel session will offer an insight in various Baltic TRAM facilitated collaboration casesand place them in a broader context of the results generated by the Baltic TRAM open calls and the national, transnational and European policy framework.

The session is envisaged to be a highly interactive encounter, where attendants are invited to present questions during the presentations and engage actively.
