Description

The policy seminar on ‘Europe’s potential in advanced technologies in times of COVID-19’ will be the first in a series of eight policy seminars organised within the Advanced Technologies for Industry (ATI) project commissioned by EASME and European Commission - DG GROW.

The project provides a systematic monitoring of technological trends and reliable, up-to-date data on advanced technologies to properly support the implementation of policies and initiatives and finally promote a competitive European industry.

Today’s economies and societies are ruled by the extremely fast development of advanced technologies. European industry is at a crossroads, both in terms of bolstering its existing strengths and getting back to the driver’s seat in the digital transformation race.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has shaken European industry and posed new challenges, however, it also created new opportunities for pursuing technological transformation. In this context, the ATI project provides an analysis of advanced technologies for industry across European Union Member States and in a global context and a reflection about the COVID-19 impacts.

This online policy seminar will:

  • introduce the Advanced Technologies for Industry project
  • present the ATI analysis on technology generation, uptake, skills and investments in 16 different advanced technologies
  • discuss the opportunities and challenges of the EU in advanced technologies in times of COVID-19
  • showcase the ATI data dashboard and online tools
