The International Conference Knowledge § Smart Cities - Integrated Planning & Policy Regulations will be held in Sofia on November 26th, 2018 and will be under the auspices of Sofia Municipality and in partnership with Cluster Sofia Knowledge City, EIP-SCC, Sofia Development Association, Sofia Municipality, Sofia Investment Agency and Sofia Tech Park. The conference will bring together about 200 participants, representatives of the leading Bulgarian and international companies, clusters, universities, research and scientific institutions, NGOs, investors and others knowledge economy and smart cities development stakeholders. The event is organized under the project „Establishment of organizational capacity and development strategy of Cluster Sofia Knowledge City“, with the financial support of OP “Innovations and Competitiveness“ 2014-2020, co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.

The conference is focused on the systematic approach of transforming cities into knowledge & smart cities and the role of digitalization and local governmental policies for accelerating this process. The event aims to attract the attention of all smart city players to the high added value of the planning, collaborating and joint investing in smart cities and an agenda knowledge for development.

The second part of the event will be a workshop for discussing on the Smart City Guidance Package, elaborated by the Action cluster of Integrated Planning and Policy Regulations of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC). EIP-SCC is one of the five important tools for creating a common European smart market focused on energy, mobility and integrated infrastructures and engaged in all sectors and all sizes in order to create and ensure a growing, open and inclusive market. So, the forum will be a testbed for this Guidance and will be mainly targeted at cities and their essential partners when developing integrated smart city plans. The participants will take the proposed roadmap for integrated planning and will work in groups to make it applicable to the Sofia case. It is vital that city representatives of the departments responsible for energy, transport, ICT, sustainable development and environment will be involved in this brainstorming. The role of the clusters in this discussion will be to present the business vision on this integrative process and to propose new smart business models.
