13 participants were selected based on their interest for cooperation with Brazil through an open call for expression of interest launched on June 2013, on the European Cluster Collaboration Platform. 5 European countries were represented including clusters and SMEs active in the field of Biotechnology dedicated to human health and personalized medicine with Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, United Kingdom and Spain.

The mission was organized from September 10 to 12 by Fondation Sophia Antipolis (FSA), Biominas Brasil and the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade (MDIC -http://www.mdic.gov.br) and Biominas Brasil. The mission offered European clusters and comapnies the opportunity to team up with Brazilian counterparts in the field personalized healthcare in order to initiate long-term partnerships and create business opportunities for SMEs through B2B, Cluster2Cluster and Cluster2Business meetings with Brazilian companies and clusters.

In addition, the European delegation was introduced to the Bio Rio Technological Part dedicated to entrepreneurship in the biotechnological sector.Bio Rio was the first Latin American technology park founded in 1988. Two workshops exploring the future of cluster collaboration between the EU and Brazil provided a first hand input regarding obstacles and drivers of transnational cooperation.
