Description
Raw materials are essential for the sustainable and sound functioning of Europe’s industries. The industries related to raw materials play important roles in many downstream sectors in Europe, such as construction, defence, chemicals, automotive, aerospace, machinery, equipment, and renewable energy devices. However, clusters and companies report disruptions in European supply chains, and Russia’s war on Ukraine affects the raw materials' production and trade.
In this context, the European Cluster Collaboration Platform, on behalf of the European Commission, DG GROW, organised the EU Clusters Talk “From magnesium to steel: Navigating shifts in critical raw materials and global supply chains” on 22 June 2022, 8:30 – 10:00 CEST, to speak about disruptions in European supply chains related to raw materials, possible solutions, and actions from the policy and industrial side.
Speakers included:
- Maria Nyberg, Policy Officer at Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), European Commission
- Constantin Ciupagea, Head of Unit, Joint Research Centre (JRC), European Commission
- Kristiina Jokelainen, Founder, Smart North
- Luís Martins, Chairman of the Board, ACPMR - ASSOCIAÇÃO CLUSTER PORTUGAL MINERAL RESOURCES
