Coronavirus has been detected on particles of air pollution by Italian scientists from University of Bologna in Italy investigating whether this could enable it to be carried over longer distances and increase the number of people infected. The contaminated particles would have acted as "carriers" of the pathogen and would have replied it to spread out.

Based on that preliminary work, although it would be necessary to see this work repeated by other research teams, it appears important to investigate if the virus could be carried more widely by air pollution.
