The European Commission has launched a Coronavirus Response Investment Initiative (CRII) to mobilise cohesion policy (= the structural funds: ERDF, ESF...) to flexibly respond to the rapidly emerging needs in the most exposed sectors, such as healthcare, SMEs and labour markets, and help the most affected territories in Member States and their citizens.

This liquidity to Member States' budgets will come from unspent 37 billion € of cohesion funds 2014-2020.
