1st policy Hackathon on smart construction and smart mobility to get carbon neutral cities by 2030

The European Innovation Ecosystems Unit of the European Innovation Council at DG R&I is organising the first ever policy hackathon at the Directorate General of Research and Innovation (DG R&I) at the European Commission, and is looking for startups or investors in the areas and smart construction or smart mobility that might be interested.

The objective is to hack 2 major challenges that our societies face:

  1. How to get a carbon neutral city by 2030 by employing Smart Mobility Solution.
  2. How to get carbon neutral in a city by 2030 by employing Smart Construction Solutions.

The participants will be split in 4 teams. Two groups will hack the challenge related to smart construction for carbon neutral. And the other two groups will hack the other challenge.   The Director General of DG R&I, Jean Eric Paquet, as well as the mayors of several EU cities have confirmed their participation during the hackathon. The hackathon will also be attended by senior Commission Officers in charge of these two dossiers. The outcome of the Hackathon will be used to discuss and design for the European Commission.

Please note that the the Hackathon will take place on 27 February from 11:00 to 16:00 in Bruxelles.
