Canadian cluster data portal

Submitted by Eva Fadil on 18 October 2017

The Institute for Competitiveness & Prosperity has set up a Canadian Cluster Data project - a portal is available on its website which provides interactive data about traded and local clusters across the country. The Institute has collaborated with the Harvard-based Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness to measure clusters in Canada, the 10 provinces and 33 Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs) in a manner consistent with their measurement of the U.S. clusters. Different types of information have been collected by the project, such as employment, location quotient or wage. Data can be searched in two ways: by cluster or by region. A total number of 67 clusters have been classified in the data portal, in many sectors such as aerospace, manufacturing, transportation or business services.
