On the 5 th and 6 th of October 2015, a delegation of 19 cluster representatives from 9 European countries participated in a Cluster Matchmaking Event on Eco-efficient Management of Resources in the Agro-food Sector organised in the scope of the Milan Expo 2015 EU-US Days.

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs together with the Enterprise Europe Network conducted a Cluster Matchmaking Event on Eco-efficient Management of Resources in the Agro-food Sector at the Milan Expo EU-US Days. The main activities of the event were conducted on the 5th of October with site visits on the 6th of October.

This Event represented an opportunity for European cluster organisations and business networks to promote cooperation through matchmaking meetings and other networking activities. The Cluster Delegation consisted of 19 cluster representatives from 9 European countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania and Spain). These cluster organisations represented a range of fields such as agri-food, agricultural machinery and manufacturing, green-tech, clean-tech, ICT and electronics, renewable energies, biomass, and transport and logistics. The clusters were selected primarily due to their willingness and understanding of the need to collaborate with other clusters and network organisations in order to better support their SMEs in a competitive global market. There was a lack of US clusters at the Event which prevented the establishment of cooperation between European and US clusters. However, the Event was useful to set the ground for new potential partnerships and agreements between European clusters, aiming to support European SMEs in their internationalisation and innovation efforts.
