EU toolbox for mobile applications for contact tracing and warning

Submitted by Carolina Turcato on 17 April 2020

Mobile apps have the potential to bolster contact tracing strategies to contain and reverse the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, the EU Member States have created a common EU toolbox,  developed collaboratively by the e-Health Network with the support of the European Commission on mobile applications to support contact tracing in the EU’s fight against COVID-19.

The common approach aims to exploit the latest privacy-enhancing technological solutions that enable at-risk individuals to be contacted and, if necessarily, to be tested as quickly as possible, regardless of their location.

In the document provided by the e-Health Network, you also find an overview of the COVID-19 apps currently available. For further information about eHealth, visit the EC Website.
