The session was open by Ms. Eva Revilla, from the European Commission DG GROW Policy Expert on internationalisation of EU industrial clusters and with wide experience on low carbon and resource efficiency support measures for SMEs, who kicked off the event with a presentation on the European Green Deal and how clusters can implement it. Ms. Revilla spoke about the need for Europe to put Sustainability and Green Growth at its heart and described the European Commission’s current and future initiatives for industry clusters.

Mr. Jordi Llinares, Deputy Director-General for Industry and SMEs at the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism joined Ms. Revilla on a discussion moderated by Mr. Antonio Novo, President of Clusters.es and cluster manager of the cluster IDiA, where the transposition from European to national policies was discussed, alongside the role of clusters at the Spanish level.

The final part of the session contained presentations by representatives of four Spanish clusters, who provided examples of how cooperation within a cluster can effectively provide a direct path to Sustainability and Green Growth, using technology to address these needs.
