The Horizon 2020 funding programme of cluster-facilitated projects for new industrial value chains, INNOSUP-1 and the projects the funding is delivered through were outlined in a news article published today, July 8, 2019 on EASME's website

Building upon the innovation potential of SMEs and acknowledging the need for the EU to support the development of emerging industries, which will provide the growth and employment of the future, INNOSUP-1 supports SMEs to develop new value chains that cross business sectors, bringing together expertise from different sectors and areas, and enabling them to transfer technologies, strategies and approaches.

There are 13 active INNOSUP-1 projects launched to date with a further five projects that started in May 2019. Managed by cross-border consortia of expert organisations, INNOSUP-1 projects include partners such as SMEs, research organisations, and clusters. The 13 projects that have been active so far were delivered by 139 partners. Two out of 5 of these partners were cluster organisations and between them they counted 6,500 SMEs among their members.

The key outcomes of the programme achieved as of May 2019, also presented in the impact report  issued on 4 July, 2019, are:

  • € 26.2 million given to SMEs in funding and services so far, which will rise to a total of €63 million
  • more than 3,200 SMEs reached
  • 1,662 SMEs supported, located in 27 of the EU Member States and 9 of the 16 Horizon 2020 associated countries
