The "Clusters as drivers of regional innovation, SME competitiveness and interregional cooperation" workshop was organized by the Policy Learning Platform of the Interreg Europe programme  at the Flemish Administrative Centre in Leuven, Belgium on June 20, 2018. The Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platforms were established in order to boost EU-wide policy learning and capitalisation on practices from regional development policies to further support policies development related to clusters in European regions.

The workshop had as objectives

  • to learn about cluster policy developments and about the cluster support community at EU level
  • to discuss the policy approaches of the Interreg Europe cluster-related projects and their lessons learnt
  • to enable participants to share their own views, experiences and success stories
  • to find seeds for future project cooperation and inspiration for tackling common challenges.

The event was a genuine sharing experience among policy makers and included presentations and discussions on European cluster policy updates, focusing on current cluster policy and funding priorities, with interactive panel discussions on effective approaches for promoting clusters’ role in driving forward interregional cooperation.
