MED-specific Scoreboard of Innovation

Submitted by Alina Danieles… on 13 May 2020

The Euro-Mediterranean Forum of Institutes of Economic Sciences (FEMISE) has created for THE NEXT SOCIETY a Scoreboard of innovation that includes particularities of the Mediterranean region while shedding light on the progress (or lack) achieved so far. Innovation scoreboards summarise different types of indicators that are related to the innovation process. The 78 selected innovation indicators in the Scoreboard provide accurate information on the level of performance of the Mediterranean countries with regard to the regional context. These indicators are grouped by category (Political and Institutional Environment, Infrastructures, Education, R&D...) and classified according to the 3 main phases of the innovation measuring process (Input; process; outputs). More information is available in the note detailing the background note Towards the Creation of an EU-MED Region Innovation Scoreboard.

This digital and interactive Scoreboard allows selecting the stage of innovation of interest, and visualization a chart for each category that brings together the different indicators associated. Then one to seven countries can be selected to view their performance and display the regional average at the same time. For any question related to the methodology used, a particular indicator, a source or anything else, please contact THE NEXT SOCIETY at welcome [at] thenextsociety.co.
