Submitted by Lee Gibson on 14 September 2020

Registration is open for the 18th European Week of Regions and Cities, the biggest annual event dedicated to regional policy in the European Union.

The event has grown to become a unique communication and networking platform, bringing together regions and cities from all over Europe, including their political representatives, officials as well as experts and academics. Over the last 17 years, it has done much to promote policy learning and exchange of good practices.

This year, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the event will be held entirely online for the first time in its history, with virtual sessions and activities actually spread across three weeks from 5-22 October.

More than 500 digital working sessions will take place during that time, with each of the three weeks focusing on a different topic:

  • 5-9 October: Empowering Citizens
  • 12-16 October: Cohesion and cooperation (including also the celebration of 30 years of Interreg)
  • 19-22: Green Europe (in cooperation with the Green Week)

Find out more about this year's event and register here. Registration is open until 27 September.
