Summary of the European Alliance Against Coronavirus Daily Webinar on 1 June 2020

In many European countries, calls have been dedicated or redirected to find solutions to the COVID-19 crisis. In the meeting on 1 st June, the European Alliance Against Coronavirus discussed these current funding opportunities, shared experiences with the different types of calls, and analysed ways on how to better coordinate the participation in calls among their community.

They identified the need for a strategic approach to address calls across Europe as a cluster community, and to generate consortia more actively to address a dissemination gap. Marek Przeor from DG GROW reminds the group that there are still potential projects under the current MFF to be targeted in 2020/2021 and announces that a range of new instruments is coming under the new MFF.

In the future, the cluster community will work on a pro-active and strategic way to improve their ways of communication and coordination. The ideas for the following steps are (SIEG methodology as named by Marek Przeor):

  • Screen what is still available in 2014-20 budget and what is proposed in the Recovery Package/MFF2021-27

  • Inform all members of clusters across EU about the funding opportunities/organise the dissemination of knowledge

  • Elaborate ideas for programmes and their calls

  • Generate critical mass (cohesion, excellence) to prepare solid applications/build an effective mechanism to create consortia from the different angles
