Supporting cluster development in the region of Castilla-La Mancha
On 9 July 2018 the regional government Junta de Castilla-La Mancha and the Institute of External Promotion IPEX organized in Albacete an event dedicated to the encouragement of cluster development in the region, including the support for SME internationalisation through clusters. The event was hosted by FEDA, the Federation of Entrepreneurs from Albacete. Among the speakers there were cluster managers of both new and consolidated cluster organisations, directors of technology parks and technical centres, representatives of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (which is one of the partners of the Interreg Europe project ClusterFY), representatives of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), the director of the regional Institute of External Promotion, representatives of the regional government and of the European Commission.
Together with the audience consisting of representatives of cluster organisations, academia and business organisations, the event enabled a good dialogue on topics dedicated to explore how to strenghten the cluster support, including the important theme related to the internationalisation of SMEs through clusters. As Javier Rosell, general director for Enterprises, Competitiveness and Internationalisation of the regional government of Castilla-La Mancha mentioed during his intervention, "it is fundamental to count on such innovative networks" and that collaboration between science parks, technology centers and of course the companies is key.
Virginia Marco, general director for institutional relations and European affairs of the regional government Castilla-La Mancha spoke about the opportunities that clusters bring to the regional economic development and in particular about how they enable the companies in the region to develop their growth potential, both geographically as well as by contributing to strengthening the regional strategic industrial sectors.
