Taiwan – EU Cluster Cooperation and Matchmaking Event

The 2018 Taiwan-EU Cluster Cooperation Seminar and matchmaking session took place on June 5 at Nankang Exhibition Center, Taipei. These events are in context of European Innovation Week and COMPUTEX Taipei. The Taiwan-EU Cluster Cooperation Seminar was organized by the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI) and ECCP. There were around 70 participants in the seminar including 17 European clusters representatives and 17 Taiwanese clusters representatives, as well as other attendees from different organizations interested in getting to know the cluster organizations.

After introductory remarks from Mr. Fred HUANG, Advisor of CNFI, and Mr. Christophe GUICHARD, Team leader of cluster internationalization of DG GROW, Ms. Noelia DOSIL gave a presentation about ECCP on tools and services for international cluster cooperation. After presentation, 17 Taiwanese cluster representatives and 17 European cluster representatives presented their organization.

The seminar was concluded with a panel discussion: “Success stories in promoting EU – Taiwan cluster cooperation”. The panel was moderated by Mr. Fred HUANG, advisor of CNFI, and the was composed of: Dr. Vesselin VASSILEV, cluster Manager of CASTRA and Dr. Chia-Feng CHANG, Deputy Secretary General of Taiwan Offshore Wind Turbine Foundation and Marine Engineering Association.

     In the afternoon, European clusters participated in the C2C and C2B matchmaking session, where they had total of 70 formal meetings with Taiwanese clusters and companies.

“The Taiwan-EU Cluster Cooperation Seminar and matchmaking event offer great opportunities for clusters. I participated in both events last year in Brussels and met several European clusters. Fortunately, after talking to a technology institute from Germany, we found out we may develop a project together.
