Trendeo, a France-based company has compiled big data to map and qualify all the industrial investments in the USA, since 2016. The company has developed tools which compile news from the media and the social media to track down various type of data. The compilation of the database was sponsored by Fives (industrial engineering group), EDF (French national electricity Company), “Oui à l’industrie” French think tank, as well as public funds.

The database revealed that since 2016, there were 1679 investment projects in the US. States that received the most investments were Texas, California and Michigan, which altogether received 20% of the projects tracked and received more than 25% of the amounts invested.

All the investments are assessed according to 30 quantitative and qualitative criteria, which enabled the observatory to provide thematic tables, as well as detailed synthesis for each of the investments.
