On July 26, 2018, President Jean-Claude Juncker met with President Donald Trump to launch a new phase for the trade relations between the European Union and the United States. Their encounter took place at the White House in Washington DC.

Both parties agreed on a Joint US-EU Statement, launching “a new phase in the relationship between the United States and the European Union – a phase of close friendship, of strong trade relations in which both of us will win, of working better together for global security and prosperity, and of fighting jointly against terrorism."  They agreed to work towards zero-tariffs and zero non-tariff barriers and zero subsidies on non-auto industrial goods. They also agreed to renew cooperation in the field of energy.

More information about the meeting can be found on the European Commission Website.
