Agrupaciones Empresariales Innovadoras

The Program for Innovative Business Groups (AEI) of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism (MINETUR), launched in 2007, part of the European strategy for promoting competitiveness through the creation and development of innovative clusters Support for the creation and strengthening of "clusters," or business groups, is part of the European strategy for promoting the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises and innovation. According to this strategy, supporting the creation and strengthening of the 'cluster' is a means to alleviate the consequences that certain market failures related to size issues and coordination have on the possibilities for companies to interact with each other, establish flows and achieve sufficient knowledge to develop innovative projects that improve their competitive critical mass.

In Spain, following EU guidelines, it has implemented measures aimed at consolidating and strengthening "clusters" through the implementation of tools to support innovative business groups (AEI). According to the Order ITC / 3808/2007 of 19 December, the special register of innovative business clusters of the current Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism is regulated, the AEI must be not-for-profit and characterized by being a combination in a geographical area or productive sector companies and research centers and public or private training, involved in processes of collaborative exchange aimed at obtaining advantages and benefits arising from the implementation of specific innovative projects, around a market or target market segment or a branch or scientific reference sector. The purpose of these groups is to facilitate, by achieving a sufficient critical mass of companies and grouped set of organisms, innovative practices to improve the competitiveness of Spanish companies and their projection and international visibility.

Success Story / Achievements:

Energy Cluster of Valencia Region has been growing as a cluster organisation since its start in 2010. Since then, it has made an effort to bring together different companies, including large and small companies, research institutions and universities in the field of energy.

The great potential for growth of the cluster has been demostrated already in 2015, having been the 4th cluster, among the 99 cluster recognized by the Spanish MInistry for Industry, with the highest number of innovative projects financed.

In 2016 we are participating for the first time in a HORIZON 2020 INNOSUP call, being part of a consortium with 10 more institutions from all europe including technological institutes, universites and other clusters.

Why should partners choose you for cooperation?:

Energy Cluster of Valencia Region aims to support competitiveness through innovation in the energy sector. The association is focused in several growing fields, like renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy saving, energy storage, smart grids and biomass. We are a very open and collaborative organisation seekiing partners offering similar o complimentary strategies to stimulate innovation and growth.

We are looking for partners in Horizon 2020 and for Cluster with excellence in order to learn from them good practices to improve our cluster competitiveness.
