EUTF LISEC JOBs- Strengthening social cohesion by supporting local economies and social development initiatives especially for women and youth; and enhancing industrial and labour relations in the Modjo Leather City

Under the EU Trust Fund for Africa project 'Leather Initiative for Sustainable Employment Creation (LISEC)', the European Union Delegation to Ethiopia is seeking proposals for implementation of projects that create decent employment opportunities (including green jobs) through leather sector expansion/business growth and leather waste recovery and valorisation that contribute to the development of a circular economy model in the leather district of Modjo, Oromia Region, Ethiopia.

The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 5,750,000.00 (95% of the total eligible costs of the action).

The overall objective of this CfPs is strengthening social cohesion by supporting local economic and social development initiatives, especially for women and youth living in Modjo area; and enhancing industrial and labour relations in the MLC. Considering the environmental footprint of tanning operations in Modjo, actions under this call need to support transformation towards an inclusive green economy which generates growth, creates decent jobs, and reduces poverty.

The specific objectives of this Call for Proposals are:

1. To increase the ability of the local economy to sustainably expand and create quality jobs, including green jobs, for various skills within the leather value chain and its supply services (Job creation and sector expansion/business growth);

2. To improve the employability and entrepreneurship capabilities of selected people, by matching them with market opportunities and mentoring them into (self-) employment and green enterprise development to support MLC horizontal industrial integration (Skills development); and

3. To increase social cohesion in Modjo through the creation of local ecosystems, such as safe community centre(s)/ one stop service centre(s), that provide new socio-economic opportunities for women and youth of targeted local neighbourhoods (Social cohesion and integration).
