SMART Eureka Cluster Call for Projects

SMART  has  launched its first Call for Projects on December 11th, followed by a Brokerage Event at the EUREKA Secretariat (Brussels), where proposal promoters and potential partners could interact, exchange and network in an open and creative environment.

SMART is an  industry-driven  EUREKA Cluster programm in Advanced Manufacturing, active since 2017, with the  vision to become the preferred program for international close-to-market R&D&I advanced manufacturing projects in the following sectors: aeronautics, automotive, capital goods, railways, consumer durables and other discrete manufacturing sectors.

SMART mission is to boost the competitiveness, growth and attractiveness of the European discrete manufacturing industries through the promotion of R&D&I in an open community of industrial organisations: large industries, SMEs, associations; RTOs and academia.

Call description:

SMART Call will follow a 2-stages procedure, having each of them the following characteristics:

• Project Outline (PO): providing an overview of the project, its main objectives, partnership and impact. The positively evaluated POs are invited for the second stage. Deadline 9th March 2018.

• Full Project Proposal (FPP): describing the project implementation plan in detail, the advance beyond the state of the art and the exploitation and financial plan. Deadline 11th June 2018.

Eligibility:

Project consortia need to have at least two different partners from two different countries supporting SMART Cluster Call, of which one must be a EUREKA Member Country and another one either a EUREKA Member Country or a EUREKA Associated Country. Those EUREKA Member and Associated Countries supporting SMART Cluster Call appear listed in the SMART Cluster web page.

Evaluation criteria:

SMART projects must clearly show technical innovation and application excellence regarding future and new products/processes, manufacturing related services or advanced production equipment.

SMART Project Outlines and Full Project Proposals will be evaluated and selected according to the following criteria: relevance to SMART Program , quality and efficiency of the implementation , impact , excellence and contact with National Funding Authorities (NFAs) .

Funding details:

Funding is granted via EUREKA Countries' national programmes. With the assistance of SMART Public Authorities Board, Project Proposers are informed about the funding possibilities from the beginning of submission process. As a EUREKA Cluster, SMART is grounded in Europe and open to worldwide participants from the Eureka Network.

All SMART Supporting Countries (Czech Republic, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey)  will be participating on this first call. Austria, Canada, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia and Switzerland are not taking part in this call but partners from these countries can contact their project officers to discuss potential funding alternatives .
