On June 7^th 2019, the Institute of Textile Research and Industrial Cooperation of Terrassa (INTEXTER), member of AEI Tèxtils, organized the second conference on Textile industry and Sustainability in Terrassa. The event gathered more than 170 professionals and researchers from across Spain.

Several speakers from the industry and academy discussed on the latest trends, needs, opportunities and success stories towards a sustainable textile industry with the broadest term possible.

Josep Casamada, Project Manager at AEI TÈXTILS, the technical textiles’ cluster of Catalonia, presented the conference Sustainability and circular economy: an opportunity to increase the competitiveness of the textile industry. 

He focused his presentation on an introduction to the cluster and presented several examples of circular economy applied by three of its members, ARPE, Hilaturas Arnau and ANTEX. Lastly, he also presented different projects the cluster is working on within this field like the European projects MIDWOR-LIFE and LIFE-FLAREX among others.
