The Aquitaine-Basque Country Euroregion will provide €45,250 to finance the Blue SARE project, led by the Basque Energy Cluster and Agglomération Côte Basque Adour. The project, with a total budget of €90,500, aims to support the development of a Euroregional marine renewable energy offer to enable companies and institutions in the Basque Country and French region of Aquitaine Limousin Poitou-Charentes to become an international benchmark in this sector.

The Euroregion will finance the Blue SARE project, to boost the positioning of companies from Aquitaine and the Basque Country.

This initiative is designed to maximise the visibility of port infrastructures and validate Euroregion technologies in Europe on the one hand, while promoting the Aquitaine-Basque Country Euroregion image as a technological and industrial hub in marine energies on the other.

The cross-border Blue SARE alliance will connect the main players in the marine energy sector at Euroregion scale with the aim of jointly analysing the Euroregion value chain and its business opportunities. This action will be enhanced by a comprehensive programme of activities which will include among others, a joint presence at international events such as the Marine Energy Week, to be held in Bilbao from 27th to 31st March 2017, and the organisation of at least two technical workshops in Bilbao and Bayonne.

In addition to the project led by the Basque Energy Cluster, the Aquitaine-Basque Country Euroregion will finance the 'Acoustic around ocean energies AAOE' project by Energie de la Lune and Azti Tecnalia in the field of marine renewable energies.

In both cases, funding is within the framework of the second stage of the Euroregion 2016 calls for grants, aimed at promoting co-operation activities among socio-economic players to carry out projects shared among the partners of the Basque Country and French region of Aquitaine Limousin Poitou-Charentes.
