Submitted by Petko Georgiev on 21 October 2020

The Bulgarian association "Southeastern Digital Innovation Hub"  has developed and integrated completely free of charge for the needs of the Municipality of Burgas - a chatbot, which provides important information related to the coronavirus. The development uses data from the Municipality of Burgas, the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization and is available to citizens around the clock during the state of emergency.

The chatbot of the Municipality of Burgas is free and awaits the questions of the citizens related to the coronavirus. It is integrated in the smart city platform Smart Burgas https://smartburgas.eu/bg, and will soon be added to the official website of the Municipality of Burgas. The development will correspond to the profile of the municipality on Facebook, so that it can serve the citizens directly through the social network. After the lifting of the state of emergency, the chatbot will continue to serve the citizens of the municipality of Burgas, providing them with information about administrative services, sports, education and more. The chatbot evolves on its own and needs constant changes in the software scenario in which it operates.

The developer of the chatbot - Association "Southeastern Digital Innovation Hub" or DigIhub, was established in Burgas shortly before the introduction of the state of emergency. This is a joint initiative of organizations from the public, private, non-governmental and educational sectors in Burgas.

The founders of DigIhub are the Municipality of Burgasthe Industrial Logistics Park, ICT Cluster-Burgas, which are the digital ecosystem of Burgas, the Foundation for Public Benefit "Digitalization and Integration of New Technologies" (DINT), the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, University "Prof. Dr. r Asen Zlatarov "and the Burgas Free University.

More information about the purpose and aims of DigIhub could be found here.
