Catalan clusters expose their value proposition in Parliament

Submitted by Mar Bonet on 16 December 2016

Last November 24th a representation of clusters.cat appeared in the Parliament of Catalonia in front of the Commission on Enterprise and Knowledge, which showed the current situation of maturation of the model after 24 years of clusters policies.

The presentation (see video here) had an exhibition of the work carried out so far in Catalonia in the promotion of cluster policies, which represent more than 2,000 companies, mainly SMEs, with a turnover of more than 65,000 M € and 290,000 workers.

Likewise, indicators were shown to confirm that SMEs participating in clusters are more innovative and competitive, showing examples of specific projects that have contributed to the reinforcement and boost of the business fabric.

Finally, there was a question and debate session with the deputies, with an emphasis on optimizing the public policy approach to help boost and maximize cluster entities – currently 30 in the Catalonia Clusters program – with the aim of facilitating and accelerating change of productive model and thus create jobs of high added value.
