On 3, 4 and 5 November, a group of representatives of several Colombian companies, including the country’s three main cluster associations, visited the Basque Country to discover first-hand the keys to the success of the Basque energy sector and its main projects.

Following the mission organised by the SPRI to Colombia in March, a group of Colombian companies was able to discover first-hand some of the Basque energy sector's main initiatives. The delegation was made up of business representatives like EPM, the main utility company in Medellín, PROELÉCTRICO and SODINLEC, as well as the country's three main cluster associations: Bogotá, Medellín and Sur Occidente.

First there was a series of institutional presentations, in which the SPRI Group's Internationalisation Director, Miren Madinabeitia, and the Managing Director of the Basque Energy Cluster, José Ignacio Hormaeche, took part. In the afternoon there was a matchmaking session. Eleven Basque companies held a series of individual meetings with the delegation members, in order to get to know each other better and identify possible collaboration opportunities. The companies that took part were AEG, CEGASA PORTABLE ENERGY, EUSKABEA, INGETEAM, MERYTRONIC, MESA, OPTIMITIVE, SENER, SALTOKI, SARTECH and URIARTE SAFYBOX.

Over the next two days, the participants, who were especially interested in the areas of electrical grids and renewable energy, were able to get to know more about the Bidelek Sareak project at the showroom at TECNALIA, and they visited the facilities of INGETEAM, ORMAZABAL and GAMESA.

The participants are very keen to continue collaborating with Basque companies, especially because it is important for their country to strengthen their electrical grid and diversify their energy basket.
