Barcelona, 23rdNovember 2018 – The Energy Efficiency Cluster of Catalonia will go into a study mission in Silicon Valley (California – USA). It is an initiative from the CEEC that has the support of ACCIO’s office in Silicon Valley.
This mission has an extense programme of meetings with representatives of different companies that will allow the members of CEEC to meet the companies and technological institutions both from the energy sector and entrepreneurship located in one of the areas chosen to be the model of the Energy Transition that Catalonia wants to develop.
The mission is integrated by representatives of a dozen companies and catalan institutions: Catalan Institute of Energy (ICAEN), Barcelona City Council, Institute in Energy Research of Catalonia (IREC), Factor Energia, Simon Electric, Teknocea, ARCBCN, Energy Tools Consulting, PACI Engineers, Alternative Energy Innovations.
MISSION PROGRAMME
The mission has an extense programme of visits and business contacts with some of the most iconic companies from Silicon Valley like Google and Tesla, other companies focused in energy sector and some of the more prestigious institutions and research centers.
Within the framework of networking sessions it has also been foreseen informal meetings to share impressions about technological trends and aspects that could influence the energy sector with US businessman and entrepreneurs as well as with catalan professionals with experience in Silicon Valley.
Regarding research and investigation, the participants will have the oportunity to know first hand the Stanford Precourt Institute for Energy, that concentrates the best talent in Stanford University in research and education of energy, from science and technology and also polítics and business, or Lawrence Berkeley (Energy Technologies Area), that has the mission of doing analysis and research that improve tecnologies related with energy and to reduce its environmental impact.
Regarding the companies of energy sector that will be visited, the range of companies include a variety like Pacific Gas and Electric, one of the biggest públic services from USA and Energy + Environmental Economics (E3), an energy consultancy company with a fast growth or TreeWatt, an energy consultancy company that helps all kind of organizations in doing the transition to renewable energies.
