Representatives of EnW partners from Anglia Ruskin University (UK), Éa éco-entreprises and Cd2e (both from France) attended the international Water Expo and Forum in Casablanca, Morocco on the 4th and 5th of May 2017. The event was organized by AMEPA (The Moroccan Association of Drinking Water and Water Treatment). EnW has a cooperation agreement with AMEPA that was signed in November 2016 on the occasion of the COP 22 event in Marrakech.

The 4th edition of the international Water Expo and Forum dealt with the major topic of « Access to Water and Energy – the Keys for Sustainable Development ». The event was a unique opportunity to meet again with the partners from AMEPA and to get in touch with the visitors and exhibitors at the event. The event also provided the occasion for strategic exchanges and for the development of joint business opportunities.

The programme of the EnW trade mission included the visit of the exposition of the Water Expo and Forum as well as the participation at the conferences and workshops held by international experts from the water and energy sectors.

The participants of the EnW trade mission were also invited to participate in the internation B2B meetings that were organized by the EU-funded EuroMed Invest consortium. EuroMed Invest is a project whose objective is to bring together stakeholders from Europe and from the Mediterranean countries with the aim of creating business opportunities and of fostering investment.

Over one hundred participants from Europe and from the Mediterranean countries attended the B2B event and more than 6000 visitors were counted at the Water Expo and Forum.

It is expected, that the contacts made on the occasion of the EnW international trade mission will soon lead to interesting business opportunities and investment projects in Morocco, giving European companies the possibility of working with their partners in Morocco on the economic and environmental development of the country.

A first result of the mission is the fact that AMEPA invited the members of EnW to participate in the preparation of a trade mission that will be organized at the end of the year 2017 to countries such as Ivory Coast, Niger, Burkina Faso, etc. African countries from the Sub-Saharan region are very much interested in energy and water projects. Huge investments will be made there over the next decades. Moroccan companies are doing a lot of business in these regions and they would be happy to do more business there by teaming up with companies from Europe.

Business opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa, joint ventures between Moroccan and European firms and many other topics will be further developed in October or November 2017, when a delegation of AMEPA members is expected to visit the French PACA region.

Watch out for further news from EnW – we will keep you informed.
