A great new global market is now growing – renewable energy from the ocean: such as electricty from ocean-based wind power, wave power and tide. The market is emerging and various factors indicate that a whole new industry is developing in an extensive international market. Sweden, the EU and many other countries are aiming for renewable energy as a primary energy source within the next 20-30 years. The interest for ocean-based energy solutions among others has therefore increased.

There are great possibilities for Sweden’s industry to assume a leading role by focusing on new solutions, efficiency, reliability, quality, new business and models. The market will have a great demand of suppliers for materials, components, systems, services and maintenance etc. The question is: Which companies want to participate in finding new business opportunities and contribute to a sustainable future?

In Sweden, there are already many companies that, from an international perspective, are far ahead when it comes to the development of new solutions for wave power, ocean-based wind power and tide, among others. At the international High Tech Steel Conference in Falun on the 4th September 2017, many interesting companies will be attending and share their innovations and provide insights into the exciting opportunities and challenges that must be faced in the near future.

For example, the marketing director of Waves4Power, Jonas Kamf, in the industry of wave power systems, will give a lecture with the title, ”Adding pure power to the industry”. Maurice Jenkens, marketing director at Hexicon AB will give a lecture on the interesting topic ”Floating wind power – a game changes”. Hexicon is planning to install an important test installation off the coast of Scotland.

At the HTSC there are many opportuniteis to create new contacts, get knowledge and maybe even for the beginning of new business ideas.

In the recently started project, ”New future value chains for Offshore”, there are great opportunities for interested companies to get more information, contacts and to further the dialogue with various actors. This Triple Steelix 2.0 projekct is a collaboration with Offshore Väst, Swerea IVK, Automation Region, RISE, LIGHTer, FPX and SSY among others.

Are you interested? Do you want to join the journey? This project is directed to companies who are interested and eager to create new preconditions to embrace this unique and growing opportunity.
